.: Why do I need an Oral Exam?
Dr Simpkins will perform a dental exam to gather information about your oral health. Oral health is integrally connected with your general health. Regular checkups are important because diseases or medical conditions have signs that can appear in the mouth.
.: What is gum disease?
Periodontal (gum) disease is the number one reason people loose their teeth. It affects three out of four adults. It doesn't necessarily hurt and you may not even be aware you have it until an advanced stage. We screen for periodontal disease at each cleaning and examination visit.
.: What is Waterlase Dentistry™?
Waterlase Dentistry uses a patented combination of laser energy and water in a process called HydroPhotonics™ to perform wide range of dental procedures on teeth, gums and bone more comfortably. Dr Simpkins typically uses little or no anesthesia to provide a more comfortable dental experience.
.: Why are my teeth sensitive?
Often, sensitivity is due to receding gums, which exposes part of the root surface. Treatment with fluoride based products often relieve sensitivity. If sensitivity persists, other dental problems may need to be addressed.
: Why should I replace a missing tooth?
If a tooth is not immediately replaced, the surrounding bone can begin to collapse and shrink. Without support, the neighboring teeth will begin to shift toward the missing tooth area. Multiple teeth shifting may create an increased risk of periodontal disease and dental decay. Today, dental implants are ideal treatment to replace missing teeth.
